As a team from Empower College Prep, a Title I school located in inner-city Phoenix, Arizona we are very limited in funding. Many students in our community have limited access to STEM programs. They believe that a career in these fields is out of reach due to their circumstances. But this doesn't only apply to our school. We hope to expand and inspire other districts with our message that despite failure and challenges we can empower each other and keep moving forward.

Advice to Other Teams

For teams in similar situations, especially new teams facing financial challenges our advice is to start small and not be afraid to ask for help. Fundraising takes time, and involving families, school staff, and the community can make a significant impact.

Staying organized, communicating clearly, and working together helps maintain motivation. Most importantly, limited resources should never discourage a team. Learning, growth, and teamwork are just as important as competition results, especially in a team’s first year.
